1 Overview

ActiveCollab Assistant ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you analyze task communications and perform QA auditing on your ActiveCollab projects using AI language models. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what is stored — both locally on your device and in connection with third-party AI services.

We are committed to your privacy. The Extension does not operate any backend server, does not collect personal data, and does not send any information to the extension developer.

2 Data the Extension Accesses

The Extension reads content from your ActiveCollab task pages solely to provide AI analysis features. The following data is accessed:

Data Accessed from ActiveCollab Pages
Data Purpose Stored Locally? Sent Externally?
Task name & description Included in AI analysis prompt No To AI provider only
Task & project IDs Identifies the current task context No No

Important: Data Sent to AI ProvidersTask content (name, description, comments) is included in the prompt sent to the AI provider you configure (Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic). This data is transmitted directly from your browser to the respective AI API. Please review the privacy policy of your chosen AI provider for details on how they handle this data.

3 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The Extension uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to persist your preferences. All stored data remains on your device and is never transmitted to the extension developer.

Local Storage Contents
Key What it Contains Sent to Developer?
geminiApiKey Your AI API key (Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic) Never
autoDetect Whether the floating AI button is enabled (true/false) Never
Your API Key is SafeYour API key is stored only in chrome.storage.local on your own device. It is sent directly from your browser to the AI API you choose when you request an analysis. The extension developer has no access to it.

4 Chrome Permissions & Why We Need Them

The Extension requests the minimum permissions required for its functionality.

5 Third-Party AI Services

The Extension supports three AI providers. You choose which one to use by entering its API key in the settings. Task content is sent directly from your browser to the provider's API — never through any server operated by the extension developer.

Task content (comments, descriptions) is never persisted. It is read from the page, included in an AI prompt, and discarded after the response is received. No task data is cached or stored beyond the lifetime of a single analysis request.
