Thank you for using the ASIN Insight Extractor ("the Extension"). We deeply respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy is designed to be fully transparent about what data we collect, how it is used, and why certain permissions are required.

1. The Golden Rule: 100% Local Data Processing

The Extension operates entirely within your local web browser. We do not own, operate, or utilize any external servers. Because of this, we do not and cannot:

• Collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal data.
• Track your browsing history or behavioral patterns across the web.
• Send your extracted Amazon data (or ASIN lists) to any third-party databases.
• Collect background analytics or telemetry data.

2. Data Processed Locally By You

In order to provide features like Crash-Recovery, Historical Data Viewing, and Bulk Extraction, the extension must process and store data locally on your computer:

• Amazon Product Data: The extension programmatically visits Amazon product detail pages that you have explicitly requested it to scan (via your provided ASINs) and extracts visible information (like title, price, brand, etc.).
• Local Storage (chrome.storage.local): All scraped data, your custom settings (such as local postcode preferences), your scrape history, and active session states (for the Crash-Recovery feature) are saved directly to your browser's encrypted local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you manually click a button to export it as a CSV or Excel file.

3. Required Permissions Explained

To function seamlessly, the Extension requests the absolute minimum permissions required by Google Chrome:

• scripting: Required to securely inject our extractor.js logic into the background Amazon tabs that the dashboard opens. This is what actually reads the product details from the webpage.
• storage: Required to save your extraction results, session history, and application settings locally on your hard drive.
• unlimitedStorage: Required because Google Chrome natively limits local storage to a tiny 5MB. Because this extension saves your historical scraping sessions (which can contain hundreds of products and high-resolution image URLs), the 5MB cap would be hit almost immediately, causing the extension to crash. This simply removes that arbitrary cap for your local machine.
• Host Permissions (*://*.amazon.*/*): Required to interact with Amazon's marketplace domains. Without this, the extension would be entirely blocked from reading any data on Amazon.

4. Third-Party Open Source Libraries

We do not integrate with any third-party advertising, tracking, or telemetry services. The extension does rely on trusted, open-source libraries (such as SheetJS for generating Excel files and JSZip for bundling images) to format your exported files. These libraries are bundled directly inside the extension and operate 100% locally on your machine without making any external network requests.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we add new features or comply with Google Chrome Web Store regulations. All changes will be reflected on this page.
